About the Firm

My Approach

During my career, I’ve worked for some of the largest financial institutions in the country. While I gained valuable experience during my time with these firms, I wasn’t thrilled about some of the other things I learned. Despite words to the contrary, many of their actions told me they were focused on the interests of the company, rather than those of the client.

That’s why I started J. Lyndon Financial—I wanted to do it the right way. I wanted to create a unique and personal, concierge experience, where the client is clearly the focus. I wanted to use a transparent business model, where my interests are aligned with yours. And I didn’t want to wear a tie and a pocket square, and work in an uptight office where people assign themselves silly titles like “Wealth Manager.” I wanted to offer a relaxed, welcoming environment where people could come to me with their investing and retirement questions, and feel comfortable, not pressured or talked down to. That was my vision. That’s what I believe I’ve created.

So—when you come for a visit, plan to stay awhile. We’ll enjoy some local coffee, wine or craft beer, get to know each other, and chat about your financial goals. Maybe we’ll even shoot a game of pool. By the end, we’ll either part as friends, or have a sound basis on which to move forward, planning your financial future. Retirement Planning

One of the most common reasons for Financial Planning, is to achieve a goal that most people have: Retirement. Retirement means something different to everyone. I’m here to help you formulate a plan for your retirement, and help you understand what’s necessary to bring your vision to life. Even if you don’t want to “retire” in the traditional sense, at some point, due to health or other reasons, you may need to stop working. If that happens, you’ll need income to live. Financial planning helps us determine how long you can live on your available assets, at a given rate of spending.

Financial Planning

Financial Planning isn’t only for retirement. Even if retirement is on the distant horizon for you, it’s still important to plan. Many families need help planning their monthly cash flow, tracking expenses, and deciding how much to invest. In these cases, the immediate goals might be the kids education, travel, vacations, and so on. Having a comprehensive plan that incorporates these goals and longer term saving goals, will bring clarity to the larger vision, and can keep you prepared for surprises down the road. And—with our eMoney software, we can use live, real-time, charts and graphics to show you how changing variables, like savings or return rates might effect your long-term plan.

Investing

Investing doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective. In my opinion, too many advisors and financial planners feel the need to complicate things, in an attempt to illustrate their value. The problem is, confusing people doesn’t promote trust. My goal is to make the complex, simple. If you’re looking for someone with a convoluted “system” that promises higher returns than your neighbor, or your uncle (who’s a self-professed great investor)—I’m not your guy. If you need a “hot” stock tip to impress your friends at cocktail parties—please look elsewhere. If, on the other hand, you want a sensible, diversified investment portfolio, that you can understand, and that’s tailored to your specific objectives—we should talk.
